Hi there! Thanks for stopping by!
Who Am I?
I’m a homeschooling mom in Florida. I have two teen boys, and got married at the age of 21. I was divorced before I turned 25. These days, I have an amazing relationship with an incredible man who has a beautiful pre-school aged daughter. It’s not perfect, but it’s real and honest and that’s what really counts.
I work from home, doing a variety of things. You could call me a Jill-of-all-trades, in a way. I work as a virtual assistant, freelance writer, and more. One of my clients is also my best friend, which makes work even more fun. I enjoy working for myself much more than working for others. The freedom and flexibility it affords allows me to have this life I love so much.
What’s the Blog About?
Bare Feet, Free Spirit is a blog about life. More than that, it’s about life as a single parent, and the process of learning to adjust when you find a partner again. It’s about relationships, and love, and finding the freedom to be yourself when your life doesn’t quite work out the way you planned.
We’ll talk about dating, marriage, and divorce. We’ll talk about being a truly single parent (as in, your ex has split and you’re truly on your own), being a single parent who co-parents with the ex or with a new partner, and being a mindful parent. We’ll talk about being who you are, whoever that may be, and not worrying about what other people think of you.
And that’s just the beginning.
What You Won’t Find Here
I’m not a lawyer, or a doctor, or a child psychologist or a therapist – and I don’t play any of those things on TV, either. So even when I tell you a story about what I did in my divorce that worked for me or what someone else I know did to improve their health, it’s not any kind of legal or medical advice. It’s simply a sharing of what people have done that has worked for them. It might work for you, or it might not – or it might not apply to your situation at all.
If you want legal or medical advice to ensure that you and your children come out of a broken relationship healthy and whole or to lose weight or otherwise improve your health, you should talk to a lawyer, doctor, or therapist. Reading a blog is a great way to get ideas, but the specifics of your situation determine what you can and can’t do.
What I Hope You Will Find Here
I hope that eventually, this blog will serve as an opportunity. An opportunity for people to connect with each other, to learn from me and each other, and find their own path in life – even if it’s not the path you originally set out on or thought you’d ever dream of going down. Someday, I hope to connect the blog to a forum where people can truly connect, make friends, and talk directly to each other, rather than just commenting on blog posts.
I also hope that in the more immediate future, you will find posts that resonate with you. I hope you’ll find information and stories that help you connect to yourself, to your authenticity, and figure out who you are and who you want to be. Whether it’s the way you dress, the job you have, the way you raise your kids or even who you date, I hope this blog will help you find that truth and then learn to live it.
Most of all, I hope that it encourages you to live your life with joy, excitement, a free spirit, and of course, bare feet.
